Of course I would never ever attain the dizzy talents of these guys but I'll always love the incredible feel and groove of quality music when it's done so effortlessly.

But, I've heard some truly wonderful arrangements absolutely murdered by the "well known" vocalist, particularly when it's a live gig or live TV show, and there are a good few instances when the ARRANGEMENT simply overshadows the vocalist no matter how good they are - the unforgettable Nelson Riddle arrangement of I've Got You Under My Skin for Sinatra is a prime example! There are so many wonderful musicians and arrangers who simply don't get the recognition they deserve because the well known vocalist or renowned musician "sells" the song and of course in many ways that is correct. A song also needs an understanding of what makes a tune stand out - arrangements. Every classic song in my catalogue has survived for so long purely because of the wonderful melodies and lyrics which keep these gems timeless.
